The three-year-old son of Shamexpress has always indicated he was a handy horse having placed in his three starts to date but this time round he took home the lion’s share of the prize after getting the better of Sit Down Dear in a battle down the straight, winning by a neck.
Raced by Barry Thomas CNZM, Tough Time was purchased out of Woburn Farm’s 2021 Ready To Run draft for $75,000 and is from the family of stakes winners Hard Stride and Utah Saints as well as stakes performer All You Wish.
“He is a super horse who has always shown a lot,” trainer Andrew Carston said. “He was a Ready To Run purchase for a good client that I got off Kevin Hughes.”
“I’m really happy with that and I think he will train on. I’m unsure where he will go next but it is likely to be a stakes race.”
