Handy mare Taimate Diva brought up the sixth win of her career on Sunday when leading all the way to score at Oamaru.
The five-year-old daughter of Telperion came into the race with wet track form having won at the course over the same 2200m distance two starts previous.
This time round, with Warren Kennedy aboard, she left no doubt as to her ability.
Jumping swiftly from the inside barrier Taimate Diva quickly took the role of pacemaker and was unchallenged for the duration of the race, going on to win by an impressive two and a half lengths.
Trainer Andrew Carston was pleased to see Taimate Diva salute and take her earnings over the $100,000 mark for owners Taimate Equine Foundation Syndicate.
“She was really good,” he said. “Though she was left alone in front she still finished strongly to the line and it is pleasing to have her racing consistently well.
“She obviously likes the wet and the natural progression from here is to look at something at the Grand National meeting and push on through the winter months.
“It was a great result for Taimate Equine who are good supporters of the stable and there are a great bunch of owners in the syndicate.”
Taimate Diva is out of six-time winning Iffraaj mare Mistaar and was bred by the Hickman family who race her under their Taimate Equine banner.
