The judge couldn’t split the first two runners home in the Rangiora Equine Services (1200m) at Riccarton on Saturday with the Andrew Carston-trained Sooo Dusty dead heating with Miss Dunsford.

Five-year-old mare Sooo Dusty has been in reasonable form of late, placing in three of her previous four starts.
Ridden by Rohan Mudhoo on Saturday the daughter of Power showed early speed when jumping cleaning from the gates. She settled up near the pace and hit the straight with momentum and looked every bit the winner before Miss Dunsford dashed late to reel her in.
“She’s a handy mare that always tries really hard,” Carston said. “It’s a nice result for her owners.
“She has been going good races so I’m happy for her to get the win. She is likely to stay in the grade and hopefully we can find another similar race.”
Sooo Dusty is raced by her breeders Mark Brown and David Green in partnership with Kelvin Hore.
She is out of Towkay mare Lady Cavalier who won of four occasions and placed fourth in the Gr.1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes and has produced four other winners.
