Russian Fable scores at Wingatui

Russian Fable scored a deserved win on Friday, taking out the Nellies Bar and Restaurant (1200m) at Wingatui.

The six-year-old mare has posted two placings since June and left no one in doubt she was at her best this time around leading from start to finish under a bold front running ride from Kylie Williams.

Trainer Andrew Carston was thrilled with the win, especially as it was the first winner he had trained for owner Nigel Babbage.

“She has been pretty consistent this preparation and deserved the win,” Carston said. “I got the mare after Kevin and Pam Hughes retired last year and this is my first win for Nigel.

“It was a good positive ride from Kylie and they won well.”

By Zacinto, Russian Fable is the final foal out of Entrepreneur mare Georgie Porgie who produced four winners and hails from the family of Group One winner Del Coronado.
