Well-bred mare Pisco Sour returned to the winner’s circle on Saturday after taking out the NZB Ready To Run Sales Trainers Series (1200m) at Riccarton.
Jumping from barrier 14, the daughter of I Am Invincible travelled wide throughout for jockey Kozzi Asano and was travelling in the centre of the track on straightening for the final run home.

Despite this she had plenty left in the tank and flew home to win by a head.
The five-year-old mare is raced by Brent, Cherry and Faith Taylor of Trelawney Stud and trainer Andrew Carston was thrilled to get one on the board with the mare who was sent down south after winning two out of Te Akau Racing’s Matamata stable.
“She’s a nice mare I train for Trelawney Stud,” Carston said. “I have to thank Mark Walker who suggested to Brent and Cherry they send her down here and I’m thrilled to be able to reward that decision.”
“She has been a bit frustrating and after her last start I rang Mark for some advice.
“She was back down to rating 65 grade today and even though she was wide she really got up when it mattered.”
By Champion Australian stallion I Am Invincible, Pisco Sour is a daughter of unraced Stratum mare Refreshing, who hails from the family of Redoute’s Choice, Platinum Scissors and Echoes of Heaven.
