The three-year-old son of Time Test made his debut last month and despite jumping awkwardly on a Heavy10 track and running into traffic problems, he finished a creditable fourth.
Jockey Jason Laking was aboard Jon Ol Rocco again this time round and the pair bided their time midfield before hitting the straight and making their move. With clear running Jon Ol Rocco ground away, gaining on the leaders before winning the mile contest by a half head.
Carston was pleased by the effort and was thrilled to get a winner for owners Tom Dyer.
“He is a progressive type that has just taken a bit of time,” Carston said. “His owner Tom is very patient and I’m rapt to train a winner for him.
“Today’s win wasn’t unexpected, he did run well on debut, and a great ride from Jason helped today.”
Jon Ol Rocca is from the first crop of Little Avondale Stud’s shuttle sire Time Test. He out of a daughter of Gr.2 Australian Oaks winner Fatal Attraction.
