Iffraajable scores at Invercargill

In form mare Iffraajable broke maiden ranks on Thursday when successful in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race (1400m) at Ascot Park.

The daughter of Iffraaj had been placed third at her two most recent outings and once again had Terry Moseley on board. She travelled up on the pace in behind initial leader Just A Girl, coming out of the turn Moseley eased her off the fence and they raced past Just A Girl to win by 2 ¾ lengths.

Trainer Andrew Carston was pleased with the performance and the Pearl Series Bonus that came with the win.

“It was a good effort,” he said. “She is a mare I have always liked but she has taken a bit of time mentally and physically.”

“I believe if you have a Pearl Series eligible horse you should target them at those races and it was good to pull it off today.

“It’s a great scheme and it’s nice to get that extra bit of prize money added on top.”

Iffraajable, who races in the silks of syndicator Go Racing for the Go Racing Queenstown Syndicate and Haunui Bloodstock, will remain in Southland and is being targeted at the feature day at Ascot Park on February 19.

“It was great to get the win for Go Racing and Haunui who have had to be patient with her,” Carston said. “We’ve left her down there and she will line up again at the Southland Guineas meeting in 10 days time. Hopefully she can go on from this win.”
