Genieinabottle and jockey Krishna Mudhoo weaved some magic to win the Cup Week Hospitality on Sale Today Maiden (1600m) at Riccarton on Thursday afternoon.

The Andrew Carston-trained mare looked to be out of winning contention in tenth position behind a wall of horses as the fourteen horse-field turned for home.
However, Mudhoo was able to save ground along the rail, before pulling out to pass one runner and then returning to the rail to win by a head on the line, stopping the clock at 1:37.25, with the last 600m completed in 36.45.
The daughter of Satono Aladdin, has been a late bloomer with Thursday’s win coming at her thirtieth appearance, although she has placed on six occasions, the most recent of which was a third placing at the same course over the same distance two weeks ago.
“She went super,” Carston said. “I’m actually surprised that she took this long to win a race, but some do.
“Her run for third last week was pretty good but she had a sticky barrier today (8), so she needed a bit of luck and it was a good patient ride by Krishna and a very good win.
Bred by Rich Hill Thoroughbreds, Genieinabottle, is co-owned by Rich Hill Thoroughbreds along with Carston, the MSA Drinkers Syndicate Renner and the Rebel One Syndicate.
Carston had a good day at the office on his home track, with Sincere and Delmonico both picking up second placings.
“We had a good day, with the win, two seconds and a couple of good runs in behind as well,” he said.
