The six-year-old daughter of Niagara found herself near the rear of the field with jockey Kozzi Asano biding his time before launching his attack.
Caitlyn Jay entered the turn for home with all bar one in front of her but once Asano moved wide and asked her for an effort she responded, flying home to win by four and a quarter lengths.
Trainer Andrew Carston was happy to see the Robin Laidlaw bred and owned mare get the win and said it had been on the cards for a while.
“She’s a consistent mare that got a well overdue win,” Carston said. “She deserved that.”
“She is a pretty handy mare when she is right so I’m pleased to have her back in the winner’s circle.
“She handled the synthetic well so hopefully she is in for a lucrative late autumn and winter.”
Caitlyn Jay now has four wins and four placings to her credit.
