Mare Loox sharp at Timaru

Suggestive Loox returned to the winner’s circle with a win at the Phar Lap Raceway on Friday in the Catering South Canterbury Dash (1200m).

The six-year-old mare travelled midfield under a patient ride from apprentice Kozzi Asano before sweeping down the centre of the track and finishing strongly to win by 1.5L.

Stablemate Midsummer Magic, who was coming off a last-start win at Riccarton, ran on to finish fourth.

Four of Suggestive Loox’s five career wins have come on the Timaru track and trainer Andrew Carston was full of praise for the daughter of Any Suggestion and her rider.

“She is a pretty honest mare and has been a good horse for us with five wins now,” Carston said.

“It was a very good ride from my apprentice Kozzi Asano on what is her favourite track and a well-deserved win for a loyal bunch of owners.”

The stable picked up a further placing at the meeting when Celtic Cross finished runner up in the Onceuponatime Sprint (1200m).
