Petite Midas rewarded her owners’ patience with a win in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race (1300m) at Riccarton on Friday.
Ridden by stable apprentice Rafi Firdhaus, Petite Midas ($11.10) was quick away and settled well before making her move at the 300m mark, picking up second-placed race favourite Miss Brahmos on the line.
“I’m happy to get a win on the board for her owners who have been very patient,” said Carston.
“She will have a quite week now and I’ll look for a rating 65 race for her in three week’s time.”
The five-year-old mare is by Congrats out of the Flying Spur mare Miss Midas and she is raced by A, P, B, L and M Clifford, C Dodds, J Gladstone, R McLean and P Murphy.
A Gavelhouse graduate, Petite Midas was purchased for $2,600 in May 2017, this was the first win of her 22-start career in which she has netted $22,112 in prizemoney.
