Madam Swiss wins Race One at Kurow
Carston Racing Stables celebrated a winning double with two three-year-old fillies at Kurow on Saturday.
Madam Swiss started the day with a win in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race over 1200m, picking up the Pearl Series bonus cheque of $11,500.
Aided by a brilliant ride by champion jockey Chris Johnson, Madam Swiss showed raw ability crossing the line half-a-length clear of She’s A Ripper and Anzac Coup.
Bred by Gerry Harvey, Swiss Madam is by Wesbury Stud’s resident sire Swiss Ace and she was selected out of their 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale draft by Andrew Carston and Gary Mudgway, purchased for $25,000 on behalf of her owners Stan Saric, Jodie Saric & Tiana Saric.
Major Ish Choux wins Race Three at Kurow
Not to be outdone by her stablemate, Major Ish Choux also saluted, in the Coupland’s Bakeries Handicap (1400m).
Ridden by Samantha Wynne, the Go Racing Choux Fits Syndicate-owned filly put up a determined fight to beat Sweet Chastity by one length on the line, after the pair kicked clear of their rivals.
