Former Cartson Racing Stables-trained Namjong Plus made an impressive debut in Hong Kong on December 23.

The four-year-old gelding made an eye-catching run from last to win the in the Class 4 Tai Tan Handicap (1400m) and in doing so he provided Canterbury-based stallion Zacinto with his first win in Hong Kong.

Bred and owned in New Zealand by Southlanders Noel and Dianne Cournane, Namjong Plus had two trials as Dream Big for trainer Andrew Cartson, finishing second at Ashburton in March and third at Motukarara in April, before he was sold to Hong Kong.

Now owned by Claudia Sze Hill Tung and trained by Almond Lee, Namjong Plus was ridden by Keith Yeung and he is a possible Hong Kong Derby contender.
