Before the Irish dominated the Melbourne Cup at Flemington, Celtic Cross provided punters with a cryptic omen at Wingatui taking out the Crombie Lockwood Wingatui Melbourne Cup.
Raced by Andrew Carston and the Social Racing Syndicate #3 and managed by Brent Cooper the Keeper mare was ridden to victory by stable apprentice Rafi Firdhaus, who registered the 21st win of his career.
Celtic Cross has now won four and placed in seven of 26 starts.
